How To Burn A Candle

soy candles

Something we get asked a lot is how to burn the perfect candle. We’ve compiled this easy to follow guide, to make sure you get the best from your soy candles every time!

1. Trim the wick. Every. Single. Time.

Each time you want to burn your candle, start by trimming the wick to between 1/8 and 1/4 inches long. You can use scissors, nail clippers (that's my personal favourite), or a wick trimmer, but no matter what you do, always trim.

Why? First, trimmed wicks will give you a cleaner, brighter burn. Untrimmed wicks are a lot more likely to take on a weird mushroom-esque shape which can lead to your candle tunneling.

2. Candle Burning Time
We recommend you don’t burn your candle for any longer than 4 hours at a time to keep your candle in its best form. Burning for longer than 4 hours can create carbon deposits on the wick, which can cause smoking.

All our candles come with a lid, it’s important to replace the lid on your candle once it has been extinguished and allowed to cool down. The lid makes sure no debris or dust can get into your candle, which can affect its burn.

4. Storing Your Candles
Make sure you light your candles away from drafts, and on a heat safe surface, as containers can get hot when candles are lit. You should keep your lit candles away from pets and children, and make sure you don’t move your candles once they are burning — the movement of wax can extinguish your flame!
